Textbook Information

The Campus Store supplies all required and recommended textbooks for courses offered at UMass Dartmouth and the Southern New England School of Law.  Students may purchase textbooks for the fall semester at the Campus Store in mid August and for the spring semester in mid January.  Textbooks for evening and summer courses will go on sale one week before class is scheduled to start.  For students outside the local area, textbooks can be purchased on-line at the Store's website:  www.umdcampusstore.com.  The Campus Store carries the largest selection of New and Used Textbooks for UMass Dartmouth and SNESL courses.  Used textbooks are priced at an additional 25% discount and many of the used texts were purchased from students at UMass Dartmouth.  Store hours are available on the UMass Dartmouth Events page, the Store’s website and pre-recorded at 508-999-8180, #1.

Textbooks are selected by faculty and not the Campus Store.  If you have any questions or concerns about the textbooks that were required for your class, please ask your faculty or department head.  Unsold textbooks are returned to publishers by mid-semester.

Textbooks are the additional costs of being a student.  On average, UMass Dartmouth students spend $475.00 per semester on textbooks.  Textbooks may include CD’s and on-line codes, workbooks and study guides.  Occasionally, the Campus Store may run out of a particular book or it may not have arrived before the start of class.  Shortages result from faculty not placing orders with the Store, late publication or printing dates, the addition of faculty and the addition of class sections.  If you cannot find the textbook for your class, please ask one of the Store’s personnel for assistance.  Mistakes happen, so please check to be sure you have the correct textbooks before opening shrink-wrap, disks or on-line codes.  Keep your cash register receipt for any returns or exchanges.

Buyback

The Campus Store conducts semester-end buybacks the last two weeks of each semester, in December and May.  Buyback is scheduled the last week of classes and the week of exams.  Buyback hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm.  Note that buyback closes daily for 1hour lunch.  In addition, two evenings are scheduled for hours 5pm-6:30pm.  During buyback, the Campus Store offers 50% for textbooks needed to fill faculty orders.  If faculty has not re-ordered the book, students will be offered the National Wholesale Price.  Hint:  Please ask your faculty to order their books for next semester before the buyback begins to get the most for your books.

Students must sign their name and provide ID to receive cash.  Any students who have found their textbooks missing or stolen during buyback should contact the Campus Police and Campus Store immediately.  Distinguishing marks within the book are required to recover stolen property at buyback.
